On 9th June 2012, Ricia Coleman, founder of Pole Twist, presented ‘Grip’ – a Pole Showcase charity event to raise money for Breast Cancer. This showcase featured the talents of local pole dance schools, doubles teams and champion soloists. Supporting acts for the evening included Soul Branch – a free-styling break dance company – and Cascade Dance Academy who opened both halves of the show with some high energy jazz dances. Dr Hilary Jones from BBC This Morning was also kind enough to give a speech in the finale. Grip was held at Rochester Dance Junction in Kent. Ricia transformed the venue into a theatre for the night. The event was a huge success and raised £1000! Ricia would like to make this an annual event and hopes to double the amount next year, making the event bigger and better. If you’re interested in taking part next year, please email: ricia@poletwist.co.uk.
Grip was photographed by the fantastic Sue Tye who captured some amazing photographs and has a true gift for shooting pole dancers in action: www.suetye-photography.co.uk
