Electrifying Performance Catapults Senior Athlete into Limelight: Opening Door to International Competition

Temecula, March 25, 2013 – A 62-year old Temecula businesswoman, turned competitive pole artist, is turning the pole world upside down. Greta Pontarelli landed two back-to-back first place Masters Division wins at the 2013 Pacific Pole Championships in Los Angeles on March 15 and 16. Pontarelli now takes on the challenge to represent the United States at the 2013 International Pole Championship (IPC) in Singapore this November.

Road to China Paved with Gold and Silver Medals – Pontarelli took up pole sport less than three years ago in an effort to stave off osteoporosis and claims that after the first spin it became her passion. In 2012 that passion earned Pontarelli a first place win at the Southern Pole Championships in the Masters Championship Division and was awarded first runner-up in the Masters Artistic Division. She also garnered first runner-up Master Division wins at the Pacific Pole Championships and the North American Pole Championship in 2012. Pontarelli says her best trick is to execute a handspring and go to a passé Iron-X on the pole, which demands extreme control and strong core muscles. Overall, it is her graceful, fluid motion and her artistic interpretation that sets her apart from the competitors. Pontarelli is currently the oldest professional pole champion in the United States.

Empowering Message for Seniors – Once Pontarelli got the urge to compete she didn’t stop—last year she went on to audition for American Ninja Warriors and was featured as a semi-finalist on the show. According to the producers, she is the show’s oldest competitor to date. Pontarelli says, “Never give up and don’t let your age limit your dreams…keep challenging yourself. Through my performance I hope to inspire baby boomers, and others, to exercise and eat healthy foods, and to continually try to become the best they can become. Remember that there is no better time to live the life you would love to live than now.”

Opportunity to Win Trip and Attend 2013 Championship in Singapore – The International Pole Dance Fitness Association (IPDFA) – the host organization for the IPC event – has collaborated with Mighty Grip Inc. to establish a contest to elect the 2013 IPC competitors by popular vote. Voters will have an opportunity to win an $800 voucher towards the flight to Singapore, two night hotel accommodations and a VIP event pass.
